As the sun rises a Sleep Demon engages in an intense jump rope session with a perilous barbed wire rope. The heat of the day begins to ignite the ground beneath adding to the intensity of the moment. This scene captures the raw energy and determination of preparing for the tasks ahead despite the risks and pain involved. The demon's form is captured in a split moment of time the razor-sharp barbed wire slicing through the air and slashing the pavement with each jump. Thoughts of the challenges ahead the ache of an old injury and the fear of the rope slicing open an ankle are ever-present. Yet the demon pushes through embodying a workout for the soul. This scene mirrors my own experiences where a jump rope session felt like a battle against a barbed wire enemy persisting until the rope inevitably snapped.
